On April 22, 1700, the foundation stone of St. Nicolai Church was laid, and construction was completed just one year later. The baroque church with pulpit altar, 2 galleries, organ and bell tower has been preserved in its original form to this day. The valuable altar of Mary dates from before the Reformation. It is one of the most beautiful medieval works of art in Thuringia.
