A former shipyard town, today Annan's industry is focussed around food processing and energy. The Annandale distillery, one of the oldest in Scotland, is worth a visit if you enjoy a wee dram. The red sandstone of its Victorian buildings make it an attractive town, with the town hall being the most interesting building from an architectural standpoint. With plenty of accommodation, the town is a popular stop off for those hiking the Annandale Way or rambling along the Solway.
