For anyone walking the Annandale Way from north to south, this is your marvellous reward at the end point – a glorious view of the Solway Firth. The Solway is always a dynamic place, with a huge tidal range, flocks of seabirds and ever shifting light. If you're lucky, you might even catch sight of a seal poking its head above the water. Beyond this point, the estuary widens on its journey to the Irish Sea. Across the estuary to the south is Cumbria, where the Lake District giant Skiddaw draws the eye in the distance. Whilst the gentle gradients of Criffel dominate the land to the west.
