The small, narrow and dark church in Allenbach, which was taken over by the lords of the rear county of Sponheim when the Reformation was introduced in 1557, had become so dilapidated in 1777 that there was a risk of collapse.
The local government commissioned the builder Wahl at the time to build a larger new building on the same site. The foundation stone was laid on June 19, 1780. The construction of the church cost around 3900 Reichstaler and was completed on December 2, 1781 with the inauguration.

The simple classical church is 19.75 m long, 10.70 m wide and 6 m high. It is a quarry stone building plastered on the outside with sandstone frames on the foundation, on windows, portal and on the western front.

In 1832, the famous Stumm family organ builders from Sulzbach built an empire-style organ with a manual and 12 stops on the east gallery. It cost 630 Reichstaler.

During the necessary renovation of the church in 1963-1965, the organ and the pedal were also renewed and two registers were added. The old bellows was replaced by an electric one.
