According to legend, those sentenced to death took their last drink here
November 15, 2020
The old place of justice, the gallows, stood on the boundary to Kühnhaide at the time when Zwönitz still belonged to the Grünhain district. This is also marked in the Oeder/Zimmermann sketch of 1610. Connected to this is the old Zwönitz legend of the horseman without a head. Not far from the place of justice was the so-called "poor sinners' fountain". According to tradition, those condemned to death took their last drink here. The remains of the fountain were removed in the course of the melioration around 1960.
