After Agnes van Loon, widow of Count Louis I van Loon, donated the income from her allodium in Heks to the hospital in Graethem in 1174, and the allodium itself to the Abbey of Villers, this Abbey founded a farm in Heks, of which 1282 was mentioned. The abbey's lands were probably partly cultivated by brothers at the end of the 13th to the beginning of the 14th century, but tenant farmers are mentioned from 1505 onwards.

In 1582, the Villers Abbey, together with the seigneurial rights over Heks, ceded the farm and lands to the Saint Lambert Chapter of the Cathedral of Liège. In 1651, Lorraine troops captured the Monks' Court, which was defended by about forty peasants, ten of whom were killed. In 1654 a fire raged in the farm; the chapter decides to carry out the necessary repairs.

In 1693 the village and the church were plundered by French troops and in 1694 looters demolished 22 houses; the residents of Heks, Vechmaal and Sint-Pieters-Heurne entrenched themselves in the Monks' Court with their cattle and managed to repel the plunderers. During the French occupation, the farm was considered a church property and in 1798 it was sold with land and meadows to Charles Clément Roemers, representative of the Nedermaas department in Maastricht.

is a typical square farm in full operation, on a hilltop along the road Bommershoven-Vechmaal in Heks (at 5 km from Tongeren - E40 exit 29), where one can not only enjoy a beautiful view of the beautiful Haspengouw but also the silence and the rest. The village of Heks is located in a rural fruit region on a cycling route network with mapped out walking and cycling routes, past castles, square farms, picturesque roads and historic towns. Near the Monnikenhof in Heks is a 300-year-old wild chestnut.
