".. 2010 saw the opening of the first industrial archeological park in Germany, which makes the excavations around the "cradle of the Ruhr industry", protected from wind and weather by a daringly constructed steel roof, accessible to the public.
Since 1758 not only pig iron was produced at the St. Antony smelter. Castings for everyday use were also produced in the foundries and molding shops. Today only the residential and office building erected in the same year, the former residence of the director of the works, still stands. ..."

"The LVR-Industriemuseum St. Antony-Hütte, which opened in 2008, is considered the "cradle of the Ruhr industry". The spectacular story of the first ironworks in the Ruhr area is told in the St. Antony hut in Oberhausen-Osterfeld: protagonists lived and worked in the hut without whom the Ruhr area would not have become what it is today: Jacobi, Haniel, Krupp, Wenge – important personalities of heavy industry. The smelter is not only the birthplace of the Ruhr industry, but also of the future global group Gute Hoffnungshütte (GHH) and thus the MAN group, which today produces state-of-the-art trucks and buses, ship engines and turbines for the world market.
Since 2010, the origins of the iron and steel industry can be experienced in a very special way in the LVR Industrial Archaeological Park. After four years of excavation, visitors can marvel at the remains of walls, foundations and parts of the production facility at St. Antony Hütte, whose blast furnace produced pig iron for the first time in 1758 and which is considered the cradle of the Ruhr industry."
