The Oberharzer trenches are height-parallel artificial trenches, which were created in the Upper Harz from the 16th to the 19th century to supply water to the silver mines. They are an integral part of the cultural monument of the Upper Harz Water Regale and are therefore also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
