    Hiking

The Kiefhölzer Teich is a large former mining pond northeast of Clausthal-Zellerfeld. The reason for the establishment of this reservoir in the second half of the 17th century was the need to be able to store more process water for the mines in the Zellerfeld district. The approximately 12 meter high and approximately 310 meter long dam of the Kiefhölzer Teich docks behind it a 190 meter long and 280 meter wide body of water, which covers an area of up to 4.4 hectares.

Today the Kiefhölzer Teich is a popular family-friendly bathing pond with a spacious sunbathing area.
