A memorial stone commemorates the demolition of parts of Dutzow and the Dutzow manor house. They stood too close to the border.
"Dutzow is located directly in the former border area between the GDR and the FRG. The residents had to live with considerable restrictions during the GDR era. Part of the village was demolished in the 1970s because it was too close to the border.
Also the manor house, built around 1850, was removed in 1974 for this reason."

The Kneeses bathing area on the Schaalsee lake is located where, before 1990, the GDR border facilities were installed. As Kneese was located in the restricted area, the residents had to live with considerable restrictions. Part of the Dutzow district, including the manor house from the mid-19th century, was demolished because the buildings were too close to the border. Today, a bridge completed in 1993 connects Kneese with the neighboring community of Kittlitz. On October 3rd, German Unity Day, a joint festival takes place every year.
