In the Antwerp and Limburg Kempen you will find the (rare) inland dunes. Land dunes are sandy hills that were created after the last ice age, by the blowing of sand from the rivers. This specific landscape with high, dry inland dunes and low, wet stream valleys is a testimony to the distant past and still determines the structure of the landscape.
