In this region you will still find many inland dunes, almost every nature reserve between the national border above Lommel and far below Houthalen-Helchteren has them. These land dunes are located to the right below the Groeve Hoeverdijk at the top of an area known as the Heide behind the Steenweg. You will pass a small part of it if you follow the Loonse Route. But if you want to fully enjoy it, it is best to take the orange Holven - 't Plat walk from Wandelen in Limburg, which you can find at wandeleninlimburg.be/nl/wandelroutes/3377793 - the dunes are located west of the conscious stone road here called the Napoleonweg. For those who want to enjoy the sandy parts after the small climbs that take you there: among all that beauty you will find a Bosland picnic bench.
