The Venbergse Watermolen is located below Valkenswaard on the river Dommel. This mill was previously used as an oil mill, bark mill and grain mill and is one of the oldest mills in the Netherlands. The Venberg water mill was a forbidden mill. The inhabitants of the surrounding areas had to have their grain milled here. The history of the mill goes back about a thousand years. In 1227 the mill is mentioned in a document from Duke Henry I of Brabant. In the following centuries the mill changed hands many times. In 1740 the mill and the associated land were sold publicly. The Venbergse Hoeve was one of the most profitable farms in the area at the time.Right next to the mill there is also a starting point for canoe trips on the Dommel.

Located on the edge of nature reserve De Malpie, the Venbergse Watermolen is the starting point for a wonderful cycling, walking or canoe trip. The Venbergse Watermolen is a picture in itself and was first mentioned in 1227 as the property of a sister monastery from Postel.
