    Bütgenbach Viaduct

Built for military purposes before World War I, this imposing bridge is part of the Quervennbahn route. ... When the Wehrmacht retired in 1940, this bridge was blown up by German pioneers.

Originally, before the First World War, in 1912, the viaduct was built for military purposes.

During the retreat of the Wehrmacht in 1944, two pillars were blown up by a German commando.

In 1946 the SNCB repaired it.

Until 1952, passenger trains ran there and then gave way to the transport of goods, especially wood and coal, until the early 1980s.

In 1982, the line was shut down.

In October 2004, the viaduct saw passing

The last convoy, railcars for a tourist excursion, passed through in October 2004.

Three years later, the tracks are removed and since 2014, hikers and cyclists can admire on line 45a of the RAVeL.

It is imposing with its six arches, its 30 m high and 104 m long.

It is one of, if not the, most imposing of this line.

A great tour. Although it goes across the Eifel, the altitude remains thanks to the old railway line.
