Nice rest area with information board about the memorial and at the same time the beginning of the song hiking trail with the first song next to the memorial 😉

A few meters from the Oesterhelt Bridge, on the way to the Hofwiese, stands the Friedrich Monument on the left, also called the Duell Stone by the Niederwiesa chronicler Max Höppner. The two-meter-high monument stood from 1803 onwards, surrounded by a picket fence, only a short distance from the current site. It was erected in memory of the majorat lord of Lichtenwalde, the Elector of Saxony's chamberlain and chief tax collector, Friedrich II August Graf Vitzthum von Eckstädt (* 12 June 1765; † 5 March 1803 in Dresden), by his widow Countess Auguste, née von Hopffgarten. She is said to have said goodbye to her husband in the area of the monument before he drove to Dresden, the place where he died.
