The old Engelkensbrug is a charming bicycle and pedestrian bridge that has connected the landscape between Veele and Wessinghuizen since 1924. Once the only passage over the water, the original bridge is still there, right next to the wider bridge from 1957, and is loved by photographers because of its rural location and nostalgic appearance.

Hiking

The only connection between Veele and Wessinghuizen used to be the bicycle and pedestrian bridge. Later in 1957 the new and wider Engelkensbrug was built here. The old bridge is still there and is now a popular photo object. (Source: Verenigingwesterwolde.nl)
