Thüngen Castle Complex

This castle complex is located at "Bangerts". The western part, the "castle castle", consists of a baroque upper floor and a Renaissance part below. The eastern part, which stands out due to its neo-Gothic style with towers and battlements, is the "Spitalschloss". The castle complex also includes the oldest building in the castle courtyard, the "Old Stock", which was first mentioned in a document in 997.

In the Main-Spessart area and in the Rhön, palaces and fortresses are closely associated with the name Thüngen. The image of the Werntal community of Thüngen is shaped by an entire palace complex in the middle of the “Bangerts” park. Two von Thüngen families live in the walls.
