Unfortunately, the ruins can no longer be visited. It seems to be quite dilapidated now. The castle is now privately owned. One of the outbuildings is inhabited privately. A beautiful view of the old walls makes up for the steep climb to the ruins.

Falkenstein Castle is the ruin of a high medieval spur castle near Waldhof-Falkenstein on the Our in Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate.

From the city of Luxembourg on foot to reach the place Bivels. From there it goes, over the border bridge north of Bivels, to Germany and then a steadily ascending way up to the castle ruin Falkenstein. If you continue up this path, you will come across a narrow rocky path that leads to a rest bench with a beautiful view of Falkenstein Castle.

From a distance, the castle ruins appear to be in bad shape, but the residential building is actually very well preserved and is still inhabited today. Therefore, the rest of the castle can only be visited from the outside.
