The castle was built in the second half of the 13th century and changed hands several times over the course of history. The Bechburg even served for a time as a poorhouse and later as a tavern. Today, the complex with its beautiful garden and the surrounding forest is owned by the foundation "Schloss Neu-Bechburg".
Thanks to many donations, the foundation was able to renovate the castle in recent years. According to a legend, a castle spirit named Kuoni haunts the rooms. It is said to be the spirit of a knight who was immured in the East Tower while alive.
Neu-Bechburg is not open to the public, but can be visited on request during a guided tour. There are also regular public events (neu-bechburg.ch/).

This is exactly where you stand in front of the castle wall, but you don't see much of it. You can see the whole castle from Oensingen, for example. There are beautiful walks and a forest park around the castle.
