This is not just any observatory, this is the location of the Hainberg astrograph. Karl Schwarzschild and Ejnar Hertzsprung did research here. History of science was written here (Hertzsprung-Russell diagram)!
Nowadays this area is lovingly looked after by the Amateur Astronomical Association Göttingen e.V. This also includes the possibility of public tours. Dates and a lot of interesting information can be found at avgoe.de. It is worth it!
