Hordel is a district on the northern border of Bochum-Mitte and Herne. It was incorporated into Bochum on April 1, 1926 by the law on the reorganization of municipal boundaries in the Rhenish-Westphalian industrial district. A smaller part was awarded to Wattenscheid at the time.[3] The lowest point in Bochum is at the underpass "Am Blumenkamp" at 43 m above sea level.
