At 1,565 feet (477 m), Top of Leach is the highest point in the Rossendale Valley region of Lancashire.
A five-sided pillar commemorates the creation of the borough in 1974. The four main towns of Haslingden, Rawtenstall, Whitworth and Ramsbottom are inscribed on four of the faces, whilst the other explains why the pillar was erected. There is also a commemorative stone for the Rossendale Way, the high-level circumnavigation of the borough.
The Pennine Bridleway passes just to the north of the true summit. On a clear day, Manchester's distant skyline can be seen to the south.
