The lawn pond was 1921 created artificially in the so-called emergency work. Since then it has enjoyed great popularity in Ohrdruf and the surrounding area thanks to its park-like surroundings. It became a popular local recreation destination.
Until 1977 the lawn pond was also used as a
• used for fish farming. The grass pond is approx. 1.80 m deep and has a water surface of approx. 1.80 ha. It flows in through the ovella near the Scherershütte.
The outflowing water feeds the pond, the Kohlbach and flows on into the Ohra and then into the Apfelstädt.(...from the information board)translated by
