In 1831, Holzknechte established a Triftweg (a Triftweg is a simple, unpaved road to transport wood with the aid of water) through the 600 meter-long Seisenbergklamm gorge. In 1912, the access route to the gorge was renewed and all the Seisenberg gorge installations repaired. In 1916, a flood completely destroyed the Seisenberg Gorge. For almost eight years, the gorge was not accessible.
