The foot / cycle path, which was opened at the beginning of October 2020, covers an approx. 3 km long section of the Vaihingen (Enz) Nord - Enzweihingen railway line. This is a disused standard-gauge branch line (opened in 1904) of 7.33 kilometers in length that connected Enzweihingen via Vaihingen Stadt with the Vaihingen (Enz) Nord train station (also called Reichsbahnhof).
The cycle path now connects the Vaihingen / Enz DB station with Kehlstrasse. Kaltenstein Castle can be easily reached via the cycle path.
