The Immelhäuser Hof is a historical estate and is said to have been built as an Immelhausen settlement as early as the 8th century at the same time as Sinsheim. After the Thirty Years War, the Lords of Venningen, landlords of Weiler, recruited Mennonites who had fled Switzerland to Alsace as tenants. They settled these on the abandoned farm and on the nearby Birkenauerhof. In 1650 the tenant family Binkele came to the Immelhäuserhof. The extended family founded an Anabaptist congregation there, which held its meetings on the farm until 1912. At times, the courtyard was solidly walled and also had its own cemetery (see another hiking highlight). Today the estate consists of four farms owned by different families.

Great starting point for hikes. Best from the hiking car park outside.
