Near the end of the unpaved Fowler Public Camp Rd there is a trailhead for hikes, though access to the south is limited by the private Wyntoon Resort area. This spot has access to the McCloud River with seasonally the possibility to launch a raft to go down the McClound river, though for the first mile several sections with rapids or boulders, particularly into summer and fall, require to lift the boat occasionally, until more streams from the sides add enough water for good flow..
