Occupying a prominent rise in the northern arm of Black Creag, Dun da Lamh was an early Pictish hillfort that today overlooks the Spey Dam Reservoir. It is thought to have been a frontier fortress, watching over farmland to the north and east.
360 feet (110 m) long, the remains are surprisingly well preserved, particularly at the western end. It commands a splendid view of the surrounding land, with the Monadhliath mountains rising in the north east and the Cairngorms in the east.

Don't get deterred by the initial logging areas - the top is well worth the climb and the views are lovely.
