A watchtower from the 11th century. Is right on the road, is well visited but not mountable.

The Tower of San Giovanni is the only military testimony of the Middle Ages and has been the inspiration for many legends that have survived to this day. It is said that the tower was built as a prison for exiles. According to legend, the tower also served as a prison for Agrippina Postumio, third son of Agrippa and Giulia, daughter of Ottaviano and the famous philosopher Seneca. Another legend tells that the queen of the island of Elba was imprisoned there for life because she fell in love with a Saracen.
No matter what you believe, the view from here alone is worth a visit.
