The museum mine Schauinsland
schauinsland.de
The mine building, created over 800 years in the search for silver, lead and zinc in the Schauinsland, is approx. 100 km long, spread over 22 floors, the largest in the Black Forest and the Vosges. It shows all of the mining periods typical of metal ore mining and is therefore particularly valuable in terms of cultural history.
Open: May 1st to November 1st
Wed, Sat, Sun, public holiday
always from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m
There are guided tours of 45 minutes, 1.5 and 2.5 hours. The 2.5-hour tour at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. is particularly recommended. With a length of 1800 m, it leads over 3 floors through the history of the mine from the Middle Ages to the middle of the last century.

The mine is certainly interesting. Outside are several old machines around, which may be "occupied" by children. However, access to the mine is only permitted with a guide, which unfortunately is not possible until May. Therefore, we could not take the caves unfortunately.
