The Wendelsweg leads from the south slightly uphill through the Frankfurt city forest, past the Goetheturm, from then on steeply down to allotments over to southern Sachsenhausen. At the lower end was formerly the Henninger brewery and also the home of the owner of the brewery, the 1875 completed Villa Henninger. Max Beckmann immortalized the path (and the villa) in the 1928 oil painting Der Wendelsweg.
