The Diedenhainer Viaduct is 210 meters long and 51 meters high. It belongs to the Limmritz – Waldheim section of the Riesa – Chemnitz railway line, also known as the bankruptcy mile. Because the cost of building the six viaducts, retaining walls and earthworks over a distance of just 7.5 kilometers made the private railway company insolvent. In 1850 the company was nationalized and the line opened two years later as part of the Niedererzgebirgische Staatseisenbahn.
