The "stork village" Bergenhusen is located on the Geestinsel between Sorge and Treene.
The village church from 1712, the interior of which was completely renovated in the summer of 2002, is a special gem.
Another church building that is worth seeing is the pastorate from 1735, which helps shape the image of our village.
As the center of the 3 parish villages Meggerdorf, Wohlde and Bergenhusen, it is a lively place of our worship life and at the same time a witness of the Christian traditions of this landscape.
She invites everyone to find peace and quiet in her, to leave everyday life behind and to spend time meeting God. In the summer months from April to September, the church is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Bergenhusen was first mentioned in 1304 as Beveringhusen. A church already existed at that time. Known as the "Felsenkapelle", this small building made of fieldstone was dilapidated at the beginning of the 18th century, which is why the Lübeck Prince Bishop Christian August von Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf ordered the renovation of the tower and nave in 1711.
However, the community opted for a larger new building. This was financed by the Hamburg church lottery. On December 14, 1712, the church was consecrated in the presence of Prince Bishop Christian August. The year of construction in black tiles on the roof and two foundation stones in the south-east corner of the choir remind us of the date of construction.
In 2002 the church was renovated. In connection with the 300th birthday of the church building in 2012, it received a modern, computer-controlled lighting system.

A very large church for a village and of course with a stork's nest. ;)
