Kogelvangersven

A beautiful fen, this Kogelvangersven. In the 18th century, the gendarmerie practiced their shooting skills here, by shooting across the fen into the sand walls.
Natuurmonumenten wants to give drifting sand and heather a chance again in this area that is densely growing by conifers. That is why you see that they have cut a number of trees on the other side of the Kogelvangersven. The wind gets free reign here, you can experience this yourself. As a result, the area no longer grows dense and nature here becomes more attractive for the heath and, for example, the nightjar.
