The tunnel connects the state road 418 (L 418) from the Theishahner Kreuz in the north of the Cronenberg district with the Sonnborner Kreuz and thus enables a direct and continuous expressway connection between the A 1 and the A 46 over the Wuppertaler Südhöhen. The tunnel runs through the Burgholz state forest and was opened on March 29, 2006 as the longest road tunnel to date in North Rhine-Westphalia achieved in 2003 (tunnel breakthrough on September 23, 2003). ...
