The construction of the Korenbeurs was completed on April 17, 1792. Burners and distillers could trade in the courtyard of the Korenbeurs. The building played a central role in Schiedam's jenever production. Today the library is located there. The covered courtyard is now an atrium with tall trees and plants. (So go and have a look inside!) Also nice: above the reading table hangs a large chandelier with gin glasses.

The main branch of the Schiedam Library is located in the beautiful monumental Korenbeurs. The former merchants' exchange from 1792 was built under the direction of Jan Giudici, an Italian architect who lived in the Netherlands.
