Ilsestein Summit and Viewpoint

The Ilsestein is located in the Upper Harz within the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park in the Harz National Park, with the boundary of the National Park along the forest path directly to the east of the rock formation. Its 2.25 km (as the crow flies) south-southwest of the city of Ilsenburg at 473.2 m above sea level. NHN [1] summit rises about 130 to 160 m high above the west directly in south-north direction flowing past Oker inflow Ilse. Topographical maps show that a fork in the river valley located northeast below the rock formation at 315.5 m above sea level. From Ilsenburg through the Ilsetal you can make a nice, challenging round over the Ilsestein and the Gasthaus Plessenburg.
