The house itself was built in the mid 1600s, but the real star of this castle is the tower to the west of the house. It dates from the 1500s and is part of the original castle walls. Do not miss to go to this observation point to see the tower, it is worth taking a short detour.

A little outside the village, on the edge of the Bellême forest, is the Château de Monthimer. Its origin raises many questions.
Isolated in front of the castle, the circular watchtower is crowned with a gallery of machicolations. On the ground floor, a flaming door is dated 1506. The original access was on the first floor, with a postern with a drawbridge. To the west are the lookout niches, and loopholes open at the southwest and northwest angles. The frame is dated 1742. It was at the end of the 19th century that the fortress was castellized.
