Outside the museum's main building, there are numerous tanks, howitzers, and armoured cars of many types. Some were acquired during World War II, when they were captured by the Red Army and Yugoslav Partisans from retreating Nazi and Axis forces.

It was founded by the Decree of Prince Milan Obrenović IV on August 22nd 1878 on preposition of Minister of Army, colonel Sava Grujić. Inside the museum's main building, the exhibits are found in a single long hall progressing from ancient through medieval and then towards modern. Outside the museum's main building, there are numerous tanks, howitzers, and armoured cars of many types.

If you have time, besides exploring outdoor exhibits, you should check museum's inside permanent exhibition. It is extensive collection of historical and war artefacts dating back to the Ottoman's.
Belgrade's rich history, over 2 millenniums, carries the marks of many nations and cultures that went through this area.
Leave yourself at least 2 hours to do it properly. Enjoy
