"Spanned by the huge Göhl Valley Viaduct, Moresnet is a pretty village, the image of which is dominated by traditional quarry-stone houses. The place with the St. Remigius Church in the center was first mentioned in 888. In Moresnet there were at least three in previous centuries Home to mansions: Schimper Castle, Alensberg Castle and Bempt Castle. They date from the time when knight families had their own small lordships. Bempt Castle is the only remaining building from this time. "
