The importance of this historical building witness is beyond question for the local council. The Schächerkapelle once gave a district its name and has long since taken on a patina. Today it is a place of contemplation, peace and relaxation. But it wasn't always like that.

The gate to the afterlife was once forced open here. Thief means nothing else than robbers and the place was nothing more than a place of execution. The Schächerkapelle comes from the time after the Thirty Years' War. It is the oldest building in the Fürstenberg district. The Baar district court had the convicted felons executed here. The square, easily accessible from all directions, was once intended as a memorial to the people. But since the judges were only able to condemn the earthly offense, the people built a chapel on the thief. Those who were ordained to die should have another chance between time and eternity to be reconciled with the Lord God.

The furnishings of the Schächerkapelle are kept simple. It is open to the northwest and is easy to see. In the center is a crucifixion group from the 17th century, in the middle of which Jesus is shown in full body.

To the left and right of it hang two "thieves" that are almost only vaguely recognizable. You have lowered your head slightly to put aside repentance. Today there are hiking trails through the Schächer. A restaurant invites you to take a break.

During the Thirty Years' War, the Baar district court met at the Schächer. The convicted felons (thieves = robbers) were also executed here.

      This chapel commemorates them.
