The Rupel is a short, 12 km long tributary of the Scheldt that arises at Rumst by the confluence of Nete and Dijle. The Rupel flows through the municipalities of Rumst, Willebroek, Boom, Bornem, Niel and Schelle, and flows into the Scheldt from the right opposite Rupelmonde on the border between Hingene and Schelle.
