The Catholic parish church (once the Christian Nikolaus chapel) is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary into heaven.

In 1877, Roth was separated from Schwabach as a branch. Planning for the church began in 1891. The church was consecrated on November 13, 1898. The parish of Roth was established in 1910. In 1937, Büchenbach and Georgensgmünd were separated and elevated to separate parishes.[1]

The extension was consecrated on December 4, 1966. This was added to the west side. A gallery with an organ was built into the former choir area, with the main entrance below. The old neo-Gothic high altar from 1913 was lost in the process. A people's altar made of Italian conglomerate was placed on the east wall. For this purpose, the windows in the east wall were bricked up. The pews were arranged in a semicircle facing the main altar.

In 1998, a Gothic arch was added behind the altar in the church to clarify the orientation of the space.

In 2007, Hurricane Kyrill damaged the church roof, and rain penetrated the organ. As a result, the Mary altar for weekday masses was installed in the old choir until 2012, and the gallery and entrance below it were removed. The organ was relocated to the opposite north wall of the church.
