    At 162 m above sea level, the Hutberg is not only the highest elevation in the Oder-Spree district, it was also the highest elevation in the former Frankfurt (Oder) district.

    A 200 (French) foot (65.5m) high signal tower was built on the mountain by Napoleonic soldiers. Later a wooden fire watch tower was built there, which was named Hörnchenturm in memory of the former deserted Hörnchen. This was demolished around 1970 due to dilapidation.
