Although the Aggenstein at 1,985 meters is not one of the highest mountains in the Tannheim Valley, it captivates with its magnificent all-round view and can easily compete with its higher neighboring peaks.
However, entire caravans often pull hikers up to the summit in summer, and it is not uncommon to have to queue to secure a place on the summit. It is better to plan an ascent out of season, i.e. in spring or late in autumn, when the Bad Kissinger Hütte is closed and it is not possible to get from the mountain station of the Breitenbergbahn due to the snow on the northern flank of the Aggenstein.

Those who still have the strength and sure-footed, as free from giddiness, should climb the summit. There are some climbing passages secured with steel cable. Unfortunately, this is loose in two places. Who has made it, will be rewarded with a spectacular view.

The ascent over the "Langen Strich" is currently blocked due to the risk of falling rocks:
As of 07/28 2020The summit with the great view can still be reached via the “Böse Tritt” 😤 🦵 and the “Bad Kissinger Hütte”!The long line is open again!

The view from the summit of the Aggenstein at 1985 m is always great ... if the view allows it. The ascent over the northern flank requires surefootedness and a head for heights. The descent over the Evil Step requires surefootedness. In any case, ankle-high mountain boots are recommended.
