The Cöthen village church was donated by Carl Friedrich von Jena in 1830. It was built as a hall church in the Neoclassical style. This was the era of the architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Hence, the village church is also known as the Schinkel Church.Since 2013, the "Cöthen Church" Association has been responsible for the preservation of the listed building.
