The pair has its source in a terminal moraine belt north of the Ammersee near Kaltenberg Castle. At Mering the river reaches the Lechfeld. However, it does not flow into the Lech, but leaves the Lech Valley at Friedberg / Ottmaring with a bend to the northeast. The pair breakthrough was caused by a retrograde erosion. The couple flows into the Danube near Vohburg.

The couple's breakthrough is here: The couple leaves the Lech Valley and forms their own couple's valley. The landscape is beautiful.
