Hidden away but still worth a visit is Neu Barenaue Castle. With its vast, natural garden, it is still owned by the Von Bar family.

"The von Bar family had the two-storey two-storey manor house built in the neo-Romanesque style in the years 1857 to 1862 below the Kalkrieser Berg by the Hanoverian architect Hermann Hunaeus in the English manorial country house style.
