The Dikke Toren has been the face of Varik for centuries. German skippers still know exactly where they are when they see 'der Alte' showing off along the Waal. The tower has a rich history and has had various functions over time.
With a height of about 35 meters, the tower offers a wide view from the course. The bridge of Zaltbommel, De Sint Jan in Den Bosch, the Grebbeberg, lock Sint Andries and the Tiel glass factory, it is all there to see. In clear weather you can even admire the Utrecht Dom Tower.translated by

Great view from the former church tower. The tower can be visited and climbed for a small maintenance fee when volunteers are present.
