A monument from pre-industrial times ...
With the Hammerschmiede Blössl, Breitenberg has a monument from pre-industrial times that is probably unique in Bavaria: a huge waterwheel drives two iron hammers, under whose powerful blows a wide variety of tools for field and forestry work, wagon fittings, wagon tires or door hinges were forged from red-hot iron.
This hammer forge has been in operation since 1768 and the Blössl's still heat the "Esse" to make iron glow, which they then forge with the "hammer".
