The diabase quarry on Labyrinthberg was once famous for its cat's eye quartz, a coveted semi-precious stone. An information board explains the creation. The diabase break was named "Bavarian Rock of the Year" in 2017 by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment. The diabase ("meta-basalt") was created in the course of several submarine volcanic eruptions in the Devonian geological age about 380 million years ago. The cat's-eye quartz crystals previously found here in the diabase were processed into jewelry by Hofer jewelers. The cat's eye cult in the vicinity reminds of this.
